Founder and chef of Momo Ghar
Phuntso Lama
Founder and chef of Momo Ghar, the North Market counter where Tibetan and Nepali momos are still folded by hand.
Phuntso Lama opened Momo Ghar with her husband, Pramod Lama, in a small stall inside Saraga International Grocery. She built the menu around the Tibetan and Nepali food she knew from home, especially momos pinched closed by hand and served in a spiced jhol.
The original stall drew national coverage and a visit from Guy Fieri. Momo Ghar now operates from a single counter inside North Market downtown.
